Ex-Trump adviser admitted that he participated in the preparation of coups

Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton admitted that he had been involved in coup d’etat in other parts of the world in the past, pointing out the painstaking nature of such work.

During an interview on CNN, journalist Jake Tupper, commenting on the January storming of the Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump, the former US president and Bolton’s boss, expressed the opinion that “you do not need to have a brilliant mind” to prepare a coup d’état.

“As someone who has helped plan coups – not here, but in other parts of the world – I disagree. It takes a lot of work,” Bolton said.

At the same time, he noted that the events in the Capitol area a year and a half ago are not an example of such preparation.

“He (Trump) jumped from one idea to another – and ultimately unleashed the protesters on the Capitol. He asked for it, that’s for sure,” the former US national security adviser added.

During the Trump administration, the head of state and his adviser often had disagreements, as the president himself publicly spoke about. As a result, shortly before the end of his term, Donald Trump fired Bolton from his post. Previously, Bolton, a former US Ambassador to the UN and Assistant Secretary of State, was called one of the most implacable foreign policy “hawks” in America.
