Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has died after being attacked.

The politician died at the Nara Medical University Hospital. He was 67 years old.
Abe was attacked around 11:30 local time during his street performance in the city of Nara. The attacker shot him twice in the back from a distance of ten meters, after the second shot, the ex-premier fell. He was wounded in the neck and in the chest area.

The shooter was arrested on the spot. This is Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, who served in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in the past. He was arrested on charges of attempted murder.
