France is ready to work closely with China to resolve the Ukrainian crisis as soon as possible, French President Emmanuel Macron said during an informal meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Guangzhou.

“The French side attaches great importance to China’s influence in the international arena, is ready to work closely with China, make joint efforts to promote an early political settlement of the (Ukrainian) crisis,” China Central Television quoted Macron as saying.

As the President noted, France agrees that for a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, it is necessary to take into account the reasonable concerns of all parties.

The French leader arrived in China on a state visit on Wednesday along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The situation in Ukraine has become one of the main topics of negotiations between politicians.
