Exchange gas prices in Europe jumped by almost 10%, above $300 per thousand cubic meters, after reports that the Norwegian LNG plant was shut down due to a gas leak, according to data from the London-based ICE exchange.

Earlier, the media reported on the shutdown of the Hammerfest LNG LNG plant of the Norwegian Equinor due to a gas leak. According to the latest reports, it was found on the island of Melkoya, the size of the leak is unknown.


June (nearest) futures on the TTF index (the largest hub in Europe, located in the Netherlands), opened trading at $282 per thousand cubic meters (+1%) and, after the news of the incident, jumped by 9.2% to $304.8 . As of 13.31 Moscow time, their cost was $303.6 (+8.7%). The dynamics of quotations is based on the settlement price of the previous trading day – $279.2 per thousand cubic meters.
