Germany has so far ruled out sending Ukraine additional Leopard tanks.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has now ruled out sending Ukraine an additional number of Leopard tanks over and above the number already announced.

“At present, I do not see (possibility) deliveries of additional Leopard tanks beyond those announced,” the minister said.

Pistorius noted that Germany, like other countries, has a “limited supply” of weapons, and he, as defense minister, “cannot give everything away.”

“Now, together with the Poles and other allies, we are supplying two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks, this is a little over 60 battle tanks. Until next year, up to four more battalions of Leopard 1 tanks will be added. This is more than 100 tanks. Our American and British allies will also transfer tanks. Unfortunately, battle tanks are not kept by NATO countries, waiting only for shipment. However, in the medium term, I think it is quite achievable to cover the needs of Ukraine,” the head of the German Defense Ministry said.

The German Ministry of Defense previously confirmed that 18 Leopard 2 type A6 tanks arrived in Ukraine on Monday, previously promised by the country’s government.
