High-speed train derailed in southern China, driver killed, 8 people injured

A high-speed passenger train partially derailed in southern China’s Guizhou province. According to the Central Television of the People’s Republic of China, the driver died, eight more people were injured.

It is clarified that a train en route from Guiyang City, Guizhou Province to Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, at about 10:30 local time (5:30 Moscow time) on June 4, before entering the station, crashed into a mudflow that suddenly fell on the way. As a result, the eighth and seventh cars derailed. One of the carriages was brought to the station platform.


According to preliminary data, the driver, conductor and seven passengers were injured in the accident. All of them received medical assistance, but the train driver died from his injuries.


The remaining 136 passengers on the train were evacuated.
Currently, work is underway at the scene of the incident to eliminate the consequences of the accident, as well as to investigate the causes.


Earlier it became known that fifty people were injured in a collision of a locomotive with a train in Slovakia. The locomotive was in a hurry to provide technical assistance to a standing passenger train and ran into it at high speed. As a result of the accident, railway communication in the area was terminated.
