Hungary has said it will not allow sanctions against nuclear power.

Hungary will not allow the spread of European sanctions on the nuclear sector, said Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó.



“Hungary will continue not to allow any sanctions on the nuclear sector to be imposed in Europe,” Szijjarto said, speaking at a press conference with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Aleinik.


Earlier Wednesday, it was reported that the United States had imposed sanctions on JSC Rusatom Overseas, the Rosatom company responsible for building nuclear science and technology centers abroad, according to published documents from the US Treasury Department.


In addition, sanctions were imposed against the Vladimir production association “Tochmash” and against the Research and Design Institute of Mounting Technology “Atomstroy”, also included in the state corporation “Rosatom”.
