In Lithuania, it was proposed to introduce food cards for families with children.

Irena Segaloviciene, adviser to the President of Lithuania, proposed introducing food cards for families with children in the face of a record rise in food prices in the country.

“We could discuss a measure so that every child in the family is provided with a card so that every month they receive the amount allocated for food. It would be inexpensive, but concrete. It would really help families,” Segaloviciene said.

She recalled that food prices in Lithuania rose by more than 30%. “I’m talking about the increase in food prices in Lithuania, which is the largest in the eurozone. It’s hard to believe that nothing can be done. After all, there must be untried solutions on the part of both demand and supply that would help Lithuania get rid of these “honorable” first places,” Segaloviciene said.
