In the UK because of the heat for the first time the source of the Thames dried up.

The source of the River Thames dried up for the first time in history due to a heat-induced drought. Thames Water, the UK’s largest water company, has allowed water restrictions to be introduced.

The source of the Thames dried up in Gloucestershire. The faint stream of water is “barely discernible more than 5 miles (8 km) downstream,” said Rob Collins, director of science for the environmental organization Rivers Trust.

Thames Water asked citizens to “be prudent when using tap water.” In particular, people are advised to remember to turn off the water while brushing their teeth. British government sources said authorities are disappointed that the company has not introduced a ban on the use of water from hoses, although this measure was considered.

Thames Water said the timing of the ban “will depend on the amount of water used.”

Forecasters expect temperatures to be several degrees above average in many parts of the UK, especially in the south, with little rain forecast. Temperatures up to 35°C next week.
