Iran called the US sanctions a crime against humanity.

Iran condemns Washington’s intention to impose new sanctions against Tehran under the pretext of protecting the rights of Iranian citizens, considers such sanctions a crime against humanity, Islamic Republic Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Tuesday.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that Washington this week will introduce new sanctions against Iranian officials whom it considers involved in violence against protesters in the country that began in connection with the death of a young girl, Mahsa Amini.

“Mr. Joe Biden would do well to think a little about the human rights situation in his country before making humane gestures, although hypocrisy should not be thought of. The US President should be concerned about the numerous sanctions – and, in the opinion of the US government, unprecedented and paralyzing – against Iranian nation. These actions (USA) against any nation are a clear example of a crime against humanity,” Kanaani wrote on his Instagram
