JCPOA revival discussed by Iranian, Russian envoys to Vienna

The issue of JCPOA’s revival and its prospects was discussed by representatives of Iran and Russia to International Organizations in Vienna, Mehr News Agency said.

Commenting on the latest developments with the JCPOA, the Russian envoy to the Vienna-based international organizations was laconic. Mikhail Ulyanov just wrote on his Twitter: “Met with the Permanent Representative of Iran Ambassador Kazem Gharib Abadi”.

The Russian diplomat added that they discussed the prospects of resumption of the Vienna talks on the restoration of JCPOA, as well as issues on the IAEA agenda.

Last week, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed JCPOA during a phone call. Congratulating Raisi on his inauguration and wished him success, Macron reiterated that Iran and France can play a role in establishing peace and stability in the region through their cooperation.

Referring to the US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and the suspension of the implementation of the international agreement.

“We are looking for a solution to this issue and we hope that negotiations will start again,” Macron said.

Macron further pointed to maritime security, and said, “First of all, we must create a framework of stability and make sure that there will be stability in various issues, including the state of the seas.”
