Johnson wants to return the imperial system of weights and measures to Britain

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the day of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee plans to announce the return of the imperial system of measures and weights (in pounds and ounces).

Stores in the country are expected to be allowed to sell goods in pounds (453.592 grams) and ounces (28.34 grams). According to sources, the move is largely symbolic and is intended to eliminate claims of EU interference in the life of the UK. In addition, Downing Street hopes that this will help restore the support of voters, which was negatively affected by the recent scandal over Johnson’s parties during the quarantine.

UK merchants have been required to use the metric system since 2000, when the EU Weights and Measures Directive came into force.

Earlier it became known that Johnson developed a “secret plan” and invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to create a new international alliance. He proposes to create a new system of political, economic and military agreements – an alternative to the European Union – between countries that fear Brussels and are set to “maximum intransigence with the Russians.”
