Johnson’s ethics adviser quits amid covid party scandal

Johnson’s ethics adviser quits amid covid party scandal

The announcement of the resignation was made amid the scandal with covid parties, adviser to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Christopher Geidt. This was reported by the press service of the government of the country.

“With regret, I think it is right that I step down from my post as Independent Ministerial Adviser” – Geidt said.

It is worth noting that Johnson’s ethics adviser resigned a day after saying that the fine for attending a party during the lockdown was, in all likelihood, a violation of the ministerial code.

Recall that Johnson caused a wave of criticism in his address and faced the threat of losing the chair of the British Prime Minister due to the scandal caused by holding parties at the government residence on Downing Street in the midst of the lockdown. Additionally, it turned out that parties were held on the eve of the funeral of Prince Philip, when national mourning was declared in the country.
