Jordan begins investigation on those who attempted to destabilize the country

Jordan’s authorities have initiated the first investigations of all those involved in an alleged plot to destabilize the Hashemite kingdom.

Following the royal rift, the Jordanian state public prosecutor has ordered to arrest of 16 people on April 3rd. Their detentions have been made in relation to the case of an attempt to destabilize the country, said the ArabNews. Among arrested, Al-Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, Bassem Awad Allah, a former head of the Jordanian Royal Court.

Authorities at the time said those were being held as part of a “joint comprehensive investigation undertaken by security forces,” according to the state-run Petra news agency.

Last week, the Jordanian foreign minister Ayman Safadi said previously that investigations found links between Bassem Awadallah and external parties, and the so-called foreign opposition.
