Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have described another 17 kilometers of the border.

The topographic working groups of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan described more than 17 kilometers of the border line between the two countries, the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet reported on Wednesday.

It is noted that from December 1 to December 6, 2022, in the Kyrgyz city of Batken, a regular meeting of topographic working groups of government delegations of states on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border was held.

“During the meeting, the parties completed the design description of the passage of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border line with a total length of 17.66 kilometers and, in order to continue work, agreed on a schedule of meetings for 2023,” the spokesman said.

According to him, “the meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere and in the spirit of mutual understanding.”

“The next meeting of the parties will take place on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan,” the Cabinet emphasized.

The length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is about a thousand kilometers, about a third of its length has not been agreed upon.

The undefined territories between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan periodically become a conflict zone.
