The Latest: 14 anti-doping agencies seek total ban on Russia

Heads of 14 anti-doping agencies from the different countries of the world are urging the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban team of the Russian Federation from the OI 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

On July 21, the IOC President Thomas Bach receive an official letter, signed by the heads of 14 agencies, which control using doping around the globe. The anti-doping agencies applauded the IOC for its the measures in regard to Russia and its possible participation in the forthcoming Olympic Games in Rio.

According to the letter to IOC, heads of anti-doping agencies are hoping on the “toughest sanctions available” that Thomas Bach noted after releasing a report of WADA investigator Richard McLaren.

The toughest measure is the total ban of IOC, which makes the participation of the entire Russian team in OI 2016 impossible. The final decision signed by Thomas Bach must be made until 24th July 2016.
