The Moscow Patriarchate today is a stronghold for the preservation of centuries-old Christian traditions, universal values and the richest culture of the Slavic peoples, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The Belarusian head of state congratulated Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ on the anniversary of his enthronement.

“Your long-term service as the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church is a clear example of boundless spiritual dignity, complete dedication and truly evangelical humility. The Moscow Patriarchate today is a stronghold for preserving centuries-old Christian traditions, universal values and the richest culture of the Slavic peoples,” the press service of the Belarusian leader quotes the text of congratulations .

Lukashenko stressed that in these difficult times, the peacemaking initiatives of Patriarch Kirill, prayers for mercy and love for one’s neighbor consolidate society, harmonize interfaith and interreligious contacts, give hope to people on all continents and help overcome the trials that have fallen on our age.

“I really appreciate your contribution to the strengthening and development of Belarusian-Russian relations,” Lukashenko added.
