Malaysia to promote digital economy

The Malaysian government plans to promote the digitalization of the economy with the launching of the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDigital), Vietnam Plus reports. As prime minister stressed, the economic sector’s boost is a top priority now.

Malaysia’s prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called MyDigital is a new and comprehensive approach. Taking into account existing information and digital technology initiatives including the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), MyDigital is designed to be a base for the nation’s transformation into a digital centre in Southeast Asia by 2030.

In its efforts to implement and supervise the transformation, the Malaysian Cabinet has established the Malaysia Digital Economic Council (MDEC) headed by PM Yassin.

Commenting on the new digital approach, Mustapa said on Tuesday the targets set in the blueprint include helping every student gain access to online learning. The digitalization will definitely enhance people’s digital literacy and digital usage in businesses of all sizes.

In addition, the MDEC is working to ensure the goal of providing infrastructure and internet access for all Malaysian people.
