Manny Pacquiao runs for Philippines presidency

The Philippines athlete Manny Pacquiao will run for the presidency next year, according to the statement made on Sunday.

Pacquiao’s toughest fight will take place next year, the boxing legend is ready to “rise to the challenge of leadership” and battle poverty and corruption.

The critics said that to win the May 2022 election, Pacquiao must show how he can steer the country and its struggling economy out of one of Asia’s worst coronavirus epidemics. The problem is how to govern after winning.

The 42-year-old Senator announced his candidacy on Sunday, however, the political experts doubt his victory. Despite Manny is an eight-division world champion and a national treasure, he faces a huge challenge to convince the electorate he can lead a nation beset by problems ranging from crime, graft and natural disasters to Islamist extremism, outdated infrastructure and bloated bureaucracy.

Despite all obstacles, Pacquiao, congressman and senator, could be soon President in the eyes of some ordinary Filipinos who know his life story and sports career, Yahoo News has learned.
