Mondelez will partially move Toblerone production from Switzerland to Slovakia

From the end of 2023, Toblerone-branded chocolate will be partly produced in Slovakia. Now all production of Toblerone is located in Switzerland.

Mondelez spokeswoman Livia Kolmitz said. At the same time, Toblerone 100g packs, which Kolmitz says are the brand’s best-selling format, will continue to be produced in Bern, Switzerland.

Reuters writes that due to the partial transfer of Toblerone production to another country, the inscription Made In Switzerland will have to be removed from the packaging of chocolate, since, according to the laws of the country, if chocolate is also produced in another country, then it cannot be called Swiss.

However, Kolmitz noted, the manufacturer will indicate on the packaging that the Toblerone chocolate is “made in Switzerland.”
Toblerone first appeared in 1908 and since the early 1990s its production has been entirely concentrated in Switzerland.
