Morocco to receive 2 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses

Morocco’s health ministry expects to receive 2 million doses of Astrazeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine on Friday. With that supply, the North African nation will be able to roll out a nationwide inoculation, AllAfrica reports.

The vaccine against the novel pathogen was developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. That drug became the first significant COVID-19 vaccine supply to the African country.

The world’s largest vaccine manufacturer India’s Serum Institute sent doses of the anti-COVID vaccine to Morocco and Brazil on Friday.

Normally, the vaccine requires two doses. Its advantage is unlike some other drugs, AstraZeneca vaccine does not need ultra-cold storage, making it easier to roll out in any corner of the planet.
