American entrepreneur Elon Musk said that the detention of former President Donald Trump will ensure his re-election in the 2024 presidential election.

Trump on Saturday said he expected to be detained on Tuesday, in connection with which he called on his supporters to come out to protest. The ex-president criticized the “corrupt and highly politicized” Manhattan district attorney’s office.

“If this happens, Trump will be re-elected with a crushing victory,” Musk wrote on Twitter, commenting on the news of the possible detention of the former president.

NBC reported earlier that Trump could face charges next week for allegedly paying money to porn star Stormy Daniels for keeping quiet about their alleged affair. According to the channel, law enforcement agencies have begun preparations for possible riots in the center of New York, where the trial is taking place.

Trump himself denies both the connection with Daniels and any illegal actions on his part. He refused to testify to the jury.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, became the focus of public attention in 2018. Then the Wall Street Journal, citing a source, wrote that shortly before Trump’s candidacy in the presidential election, his lawyer Michael Cohen paid the actress $130,000 as part of a non-disclosure agreement about her relationship with the president. The White House denied this information.

Later, when the actress told the media that an unknown man threatened her and her child in connection with the disclosure of information about the affair, Trump accused Daniels of lying.
