NATO has depleted stocks of artillery shells for deliveries to Kyiv, the Secretary General said.

NATO countries have depleted their stocks of artillery shells for deliveries to Ukraine and see the challenge in increasing their production in a situation where the conflict has entered the phase of a “war of attrition”, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“The problem now is that the consumption of shells exceeds our production. So far we have depleted our stocks,” he said.

“We are now focusing on increasing production, because now this is a war of attrition, a confrontation between logistics, and we need to supply Ukrainians every day so that they continue to achieve results on the battlefield,” Stoltenberg added.
