NATO leaders will announce a new deployment of forces in Europe at the upcoming alliance summit in Madrid, adopt a NATO strategy, a senior US administration official said.

“Leaders will announce new commitments to deploy forces in Europe to enhance defense and deter NATO,” the official said in a telephone briefing.

“Russia remains the most serious and immediate threat to the alliance,” an administration official said, noting that this thesis will be reflected in NATO strategy.
