Naval exercises of NATO with the participation of military from 15 countries of the bloc began in Turkey

NATO naval exercises have begun in Turkey with the participation of military personnel from 15 countries of the North Atlantic bloc.

Large-scale maneuvers Dynamic Mariner – Mavi Balina – Nusret – 2022 in the Mediterranean and Aegean seas started on September 11 and will continue until September 22. From January 1, 2023, Ankara will assume command of the naval component of the NATO Rapid Reaction Force from London.

It is noted that the amphibious assault ship “Sanjaktar” and the universal landing ship “Anadolu”, which can be configured as a light aircraft carrier, will be involved in the exercises. They were built in Turkey.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that disagreements with Turkey over the membership of Finland and Sweden in the alliance still persist. He added that at the moment, 24 out of 30 NATO countries, including the United States, have signed a protocol on the admission of Helsinki and Stockholm to the bloc.
