Nepal approves AstraZeneca COVID vaccine

Nepal’s government has officially approved the AstraZeneca’s COVISHIELD vaccine for emergency use in the country, according to Reuters.

Nepal accelerated its efforts in combating against the novel pathogen originated in neighbouring China. On Friday, the government gave a green light to COVISHIELD vaccine against the coronavirus.

“Conditional permission has been granted for emergency use authorization of COVISHIELD vaccine against COVID-19 in Nepal,” a statement by the country’s Department of Drug Administration said.

As of Jan 15, the small nation Nepal has reported 266,816 cases and 1,948 deaths from the corona virus.
