New US sanctions were not left without comments from the Russian embassy

The Russian embassy in Washington said the new US sanctions are aimed at denigrating the “undesirables” and drawing artificial dividing lines between “true democracies” and “autocracies.”

“The new sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities are nothing more than an advertising campaign by the US administration aimed at denigrating the ‘undesirables’ by labeling ‘human rights violators,'” the diplomatic mission said.

The goals of such steps, diplomats are convinced, are to try to exert pressure, to draw artificial dividing lines between “true democracies” and “autocracies.”

“Washington does not let up in its desire to ‘punish’ Russia for its independent and principled position in international affairs,” the embassy added.

ㅤ

The diplomatic mission also indicated that Washington “is using a human rights screen” in an effort to encourage other states to adjust their foreign policy to “supposedly the only true patterns of the collective West.”

“The odious ‘Global Magnitsky Act’ is just another marked card in the White House deck, used for overt interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states,” the diplomats concluded.
