Norway joins countries offering AstraZeneca vaccine to over 65s

Norway becomes the next European nation that is adding AstraZeneca’s jab to its inoculation program for people aged over 65, Bloomberg has learned.

Norway is the latest country to add AstraZeneca Plc’s vaccine to its COVID-19 vaccination campaign for the elderly. Now, all Norwegians over the age of 65 will receive the anti-virus drug.

Norway’s health minister has decided to join other EU countries like Germany, France and Sweden where AstraZeneca’s jab are working now. The Norwegian top medical officers say there were clearing shots by Astra for the elderly, after judging that recent data now support such a step.

Erna Solberg, Norway’s prime minister, confirmed wider use of the vaccine will speed up the nationwide efforts to inoculate its oldest citizens. That’s as the government warns that stricter measures will be needed if novel pathogen rates don’t decline.
