The Cabinet of Ministers of Pakistan decided to end the confrontation with Iran… The Cabinet of Ministers, headed by the interim Prime Minister of Pakistan (Anwaar ul-Haq Kakar), also supported the move towards the full restoration of relations with Iran.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on the evening of January 16 that ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles had struck the main base of the Jaysh al-Adl group, located in the Pakistani province of Baluchistan, bordering Iran. The representative of Pakistan condemned Iran’s attack, and today recalled its ambassador from Tehran, and also showed that the Iranian ambassador will also not be able to continue his constitutional mission in Islamabad.

On January 18, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced a series of strikes to identify terrorists in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchistan. The Foreign Ministry noted that for the purpose of the operation, terrorists of Pakistani origin in ungovernable territories inside Iran were called “sarmachars.” At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Pakistan respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the guideline for the strikes was to ensure Pakistan’s own security and national interests.

On Friday, the Pakistani foreign ministry reported that Foreign Minister in the interim government of Pakistan Jalil Abbas Jilani had a conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The Pakistani minister spoke about the need to strengthen cooperation with Iran in the field of security, and also stated Islamabad’s readiness to cooperate with Tehran on all issues based on mutual trust.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry, in turn, later reported that Amir Abdollahian during the conversation demanded that Pakistan focus on international security and in the military sphere, agreements on which were reached earlier, saying that they need to come. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs again respects the sovereignty and gratitude of the head of the President of Pakistan.
