Peru’s vice president will be sworn in as president on Wednesday.

Peruvian Vice President Dina Boluarte will be sworn in as president in front of parliament on Wednesday, the country’s congress said.

Earlier Wednesday, President Pedro Castillo dissolved parliament, which was supposed to consider his impeachment for the third time. However, the parliamentarians still gathered for a meeting and decided on the resignation of the president.

“At 15:00 at the plenary session of the Congress, Peruvian Vice President Dina Boluarte will be sworn in as head of state,” the statement said.

Earlier, Boluarte said she does not condemn Castillo’s decision to dissolve the congress because it violates the constitutional order.
