Poland opposes the discussion by the European Union of security guarantees for Russia, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Pavel Jablonsky, arriving at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the future security architecture of Europe after the restoration of peace in Ukraine should include security guarantees for Russia.

“In today’s discussion, it will be extremely important to assess the situation and assess the previous actions of the entire EU and NATO. It is extremely important not to allow ourselves to be somehow drawn into arguments that Ukraine supposedly should give up some part of its territory or that Russia has the right to expect from any security guarantees,” Yablonsky said.

“Discussions of this type are a strategic mistake. Because today it is not Russia that needs security guarantees, but Europe that needs security guarantees from Russia. We will talk a lot about this today,” he added.
