Poland will demand from the EU to impose sanctions on food imports from Russia.

Poland will require the European Union to impose sanctions on food imports from Russia, Warsaw’s permanent representative in Brussels, Andrzej Sadosz said.

“Andrzej Sados said that Poland considers the import of Russian agricultural products to the EU under the pretext of food security unacceptable and will require sanctions against such imports,” the Polish representative said.

Sados said that “sanctions should be introduced immediately, especially given the recent EU problems with Ukrainian grain.”

So far, the European Commission has refrained from imposing sanctions on Russian food imports to EU markets, citing possible threats to the global food chain.
