The Polish authorities demolished a monument to soldiers of the Red Army in the city of Brzeg.

The demolition of the memorial fell on the Independence Day of Ukraine. The Polish State Historical Institute and the Institute of National Remembrance worked on the destruction of the monument. Together with local communities, they are engaged in the demolition of dozens of similar monuments of the Soviet era.

The demolition of the memorial in Brzeg was caught on video. The footage shows how the monument is split into small fragments by heavy equipment.

Earlier, the sculpture “Motherland” split during the demolition of the monument to the liberators of Riga. Heavy equipment pushed her off the pedestal, causing the monument to fall and shatter.
