Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the issue of membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO will not be agreed by the end of June

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland said that the membership of Finland and Sweden in the North Atlantic Alliance could not be agreed upon by the summit in Madrid, which is to be held on June 28-29.

“I think Madrid is too close. If we are talking about the admission of new members to NATO, then this year is a much longer process that requires processes in individual states. It’s not that fast and it’s not that easy. This will take at least a few months,” said Polish Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky.

The politician also spoke about Turkey, which today does not support the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO. He believes that membership will be approved by Turkey.
Earlier, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said in an interview with Corriere della Sera that it is difficult to make predictions about the timing of the country’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance.
