Portugal and Spain offered the EU a way to painlessly refuse gas from the Russian Federation

Portugal is called the “energy island”, as the state was separated from European energy networks for a long time. It is expected that the countries of the Iberian Peninsula will offer the EU states a painless refusal of gas from Russia.

As you know, the energy systems of Spain and Portugal are separated from the rest of the EU zone. These countries are developing alternative energy and use the import and processing of LNG from the United States.

The well-established system of working with LNG allowed Madrid and Lisbon to maintain energy stability. A new gas pipeline from Sines to the Spanish border could be used to supply hydrogen, which would help make the EU less dependent on Russian gas.
