Prime Minister Johnson’s short-sighted policies could make Britain a pariah

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s disagreements with European partners and the European Court of Human Rights could turn the country into a pariah.

We are talking about disputes in connection with the law on changes to the Northern Ireland Protocol, proposed by Foreign Minister Liz Truss. If adopted, it would allow the country to unilaterally ignore part of the clauses of the Brexit deal concluded with the EU in 2019.

In this regard, the EU has already begun legal proceedings against London, accusing it of failing to comply with a number of conditions prescribed in the protocol. According to the Deputy President of the European Commission, Maros Sefcovic, such a change in the conditions “there are no legal and political justifications.” The British authorities, on the contrary, consider the bill completely legal.

Another reason in connection with which Britain could allegedly become an outcast is the plan of the government of the country to send refugees to Rwanda. The ECHR believes that asylum seekers have not yet exhausted all legal possibilities in the Kingdom, and therefore criticized the decision of London. After that, the flight was cancelled.
