Queen Elizabeth II made her first ever front row appearance at London Fashion Week

Queen Elizabeth II made her first ever front row appearance at London Fashion Week

Queen Elizabeth II is known as one of the most elegant women of all times. The longest reigning monarch surprised people when she appeared in the first row at London Fashion Week. Undoubtedly, the 91-year-old guest was the stylish person at the LFW.

The monarch sat next to the Dame Anna Wintour and along with British Fashion Council chief Caroline Rush, both Queen’s neighbours were uncharacteristically nervous. Despite all this, Ms Wintour preferred to keep her signature sunglasses. British-American fashion legend watched the entire Oscars in 2015 without taking that accessory off, moreover, has been seen taking them off is when she was made a Dame at Buckingham Palace in 2017.

Queen Elizabeth II was described as the nation’s most reluctant style icon, so Her Majesty’s appearance at the Fashion Week was a good sign for many British designers. It was fitting that the Queen took her place FROW (Front Row, in fashion speak)  at LFW for the first time at the age of 91.

The monarch appeared to be enjoying her first taste of Fashion Week as she spoke to fashion insiders seated on the FROW.

The Queen’s sudden appearance on the runway for Richard Quinn’s show, escorted by the chief executive of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush, caused a gasp of astonishment.

She, however, quietly took her seat – her own Philippe Starck Perspex ‘ghost’ chair worth around £200, with arm rests and a velvet cushion – alongside Dame Anna Wintour, who, while refusing to take off her glasses, did stand as a mark of respect.
