Ramstein base workers will go on strike on the day of the meeting of NATO countries.

Employees of the Ramstein base in Germany will go on strike on Friday – the day of the meeting of the Contact Group for Support to Ukraine of NATO countries and their allies.

“Through a drive to US Ramstein Air Force Base on Friday, the stationed forces want to highlight their wage demands,” union spokesman Suzanne Riedel said.

She pointed to the last round of negotiations with the employer, which were “sobering” and which failed to agree on a salary increase, which at the moment is “close to the minimum.”

The workers and the trade union representing them are not ready to put up with the fact that the employer agreed only to a wage increase of 4.1% within 14 months and a one-time payment of 1,500 euros. As Riedel emphasized, this is not enough to pay for increased electricity and gas prices, or to cover losses due to rising inflation.
