Rishi Sunak leads after second round of UK PM election

Five candidates made it to the third round of the British Prime Minister’s election, Graham Brady, head of the Conservative Party’s steering committee, said on Wednesday.

The second round of elections was held today from 11.30 to 13.30 local time. The broadcast was conducted by the Sky News channel.

Among the candidates who managed to make it to the third round of voting were former Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Undersecretary for International Trade Penny Mordaunt, House of Commons Committee Chair Tom Tugendhat and former Undersecretary for Women and Equality Kemi Badenok. Rishi Sunak won the most votes in the second round of the British Prime Minister’s election, followed by Penny Mordaunt.


This time, in order to pass to the next round, a minimum of supporters was not established, whose support the candidates had to enlist, the candidate with the smallest number of votes was excluded from the race, it was the Attorney General of England and Wales, Suella Braverman.
