Saakashvili called the condition under which he will pass the test for poisoning.

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is ready to undergo a toxicological study by Georgian experts to verify information about his possible poisoning, only if the samples are sent to a foreign clinic and a specialist from the politician participates in the process, lawyer Ilia Lomia said.

Saakashvili expresses no confidence in the Georgian experts from the National Bureau of Expertise and refuses to donate blood for a toxicological study. Earlier, his lawyers reported that heavy metal poisoning in the politician’s body was detected by independent doctors at the ombudsman’s office and foreign doctors. At the same time, the penitentiary service reported that, according to the reports of the same doctors, the indicators of toxic substances in the body of the former president do not exceed the norm.

“He will agree to an examination only if the samples are sent abroad and his own expert is involved in the process,” Lomiya told reporters.

The human rights activist argues that in fact the National Bureau of Expertise in Georgia does not have the opportunity to conduct a toxicological study, which leads to suspicions about the objectivity of Georgian experts.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Zurab Azarashvili, said earlier on Monday that the state has the opportunity to take care of the health of each prisoner, and the examination bureau has all the conditions for conducting toxicological studies if the patient agrees to take samples.
