Serbian President Vucic said Belgrade will jealously guard its military neutrality

Belgrade will jealously guard the neutral status of Serbia, which will not join any military bloc, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after taking the oath in the republic’s parliament.

“You talk every day about territorial integrity, but you yourself destroyed the territorial integrity of Serbia. (…) Serbia will jealously protect its military neutrality, we are not politically neutral, but we will be neutral in the military sense, NATO countries are around us, we are like an island, (…) but we will not be part of any military bloc ” , he concluded.

Vucic spoke about the further political course towards integration with the European Union and the final solution to the issue of protecting the rights of the Serbs of Kosovo and Metohija.

He also expressed hope that after the formation of the Serbian parliament, the accelerated formation of the government will begin. According to him, the authorities intend to pay special attention to strengthening the army, increasing social benefits and preserving demographics.

Earlier, MEP Viola von Cramon said that the Serbian leadership should choose which side it is on and decide whether it supports sanctions against Russia. According to her, the EU is extremely interested in rapprochement with Belgrade, but partners should share common decisions and measures, including sanctions.
