Stoltenberg called on NATO countries to increase the production of ammunition.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg urged the countries of the alliance to increase the production of ammunition, as their stocks have become scarce.

“We need to do more throughout the alliance,” Stoltenberg said in an interview with Bloomberg, speaking of the need to increase ammunition production.

“What we really need is the signing of contracts, because then the industry will be ready to invest and increase production,” he added.

According to Stoltenberg, NATO has invited representatives from the defense industry to join a meeting of defense ministers in Brussels in June to facilitate contracting.

“At this point, the Allies have depleted supplies to be able to support Ukraine – this is not an unsustainable path, so we need to increase production in order to meet these new and more ambitious goals,” he said.
