Sunak called on Israel to take all measures to ensure the safety of civilians in Gaza.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Israel must take all necessary measures to protect civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, whose residents the Israel Defense Forces have called on to evacuate.

Earlier, the official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric, said that Israel ordered the population, as well as UN troops in the north of the Gaza Strip, to move to its southern part within 24 hours. The organization calls for the cancellation of such an order, as it would have devastating humanitarian consequences. 1.1 million people will have to be displaced.

“I agree with what the US Secretary of Defense and the (US) President have said, that of course Israel, in exercising its legitimate right of self-defense, must take all possible precautions to protect the civilian population,” he said on Sky News.

Earlier, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he considers the evacuation of a million Gazans in accordance with Israel’s warning unrealistic.
