Michael Nyqvist had been battling lung cancer, the star of Dragon Tattoo and John Wick has died ageg 56 on June 28, reported his representative on Tuesday.
The Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist is well-known on his native country, but Hollywood also warmly welcomed his charisma and excellent acting skills. The actor was born in Stockholm where he sterted his acting career in the 80s, but the world popularity came to him in the 2000s, after the role of Mikael Blomkvist in the original Swedish Dragon Tattoo.
Later, the Dragon Tatto transformed into the trilogy – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. Hollywood producers highly appreciated the talent of Swedish actor, Michael was a star of the action thrillers such as John Wick and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Death of Michael Nyqvist: official statement reveals the reason
Lung cancer caused the death of the world-famous actor, Nyqvist’s representative released a statement on June 28:
“It is with deep sadness that I can confirm that our beloved Michael, one of Sweden’s most respected and accomplished actors, has passed away quietly surrounded by family after a year long battle with lung cancer.”
Nyqvis: career and success in Hollywood
Malmö Theatre Academy was a place where young Micahel Nyqvist got his start and learned a lot of professional secrets. This Academy is the Sweden’s leading theater, but Nyqvist’s breakout role came decades later, in 2000.
Lukas Moodysson, the Swedish director, invited Nyqvist to play in comedy-drama Together. Recently, an actor completed roles in thriller Hunter Killer with Gary Oldman and submarine disaster Kursk with Colin Firth and Matthias Schoenaerts.
