Syria resumes participation in the work of the League of Arab States (LAS) from Sunday, May 7, according to a statement following an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers.

Earlier, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ahmed al-Sahhaf told that the LAS foreign ministers approved the return of Syria to the organization. The official representative of the Arab League Secretary General, Gamal Rushdie, confirmed this information.

“It was decided to resume the participation of delegations of the government of the Syrian Arab Republic in the meetings of the Council of the League of Arab States and in all its bodies and organizations starting from May 7, 2023,” the statement said.
