The American senator called Ukraine’s situation desperate.

Ukraine is in a desperate situation, and it needs US help immediately, unlike Israel, which has the ability to defend itself,  Ben Cardin, head of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in an interview with New Yorker magazine.

“Let’s acknowledge that Ukraine is desperate and they need help immediately,” Cardin said.

According to the congressman, providing assistance to Israel is also important, but “not critical,” while for Kyiv, “timely assistance is much more important.” “In terms of Israel’s defense, they have the ability to defend themselves. We have to make sure we give them what they need,” he added.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said in October that the United States remains confident it can continue to meet the weapons needs of Israel and Ukraine.

The Hill previously reported that American arms manufacturers are struggling to keep up with orders amid the conflict in Ukraine and the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Another American newspaper, the Daily Beast, wrote that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are afraid that, given the weakening attention of the West due to the conflict in the Middle East, they will have to retreat, perhaps even to Lvov.

According to the publication, there are also concerns that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will have to ration the use of supplies in the event of a further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
