The British Labor Party called for a general election.

The opposition Labor Party of Great Britain, after the election of former finance minister Rishi Sunak, called for a general election now.

Sunak was elected head of Britain’s ruling Conservative Party on Monday and will also take over as prime minister. Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has already called on Sunak to hold an early general election.

“Britain didn’t vote for him. Britain can no longer afford the Conservative Party. The general election is now,” the party said in a video posted on Twitter.

Sunak will be Britain’s third prime minister this year. In July, Boris Johnson announced his intention to step down as prime minister.

Elected in September Liz Truss was prime minister for only 44 days and also resigned, facing criticism over a new plan to support the economy and fears that the government would increase the size of the public debt to implement it.
