The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense has prepared a new package of military assistance for Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria has prepared a new package of military assistance for Ukraine, the head of the department, Todor Tagarev said.

In early November, the People’s Assembly (Parliament) of Bulgaria approved the supply of weapons to Ukraine. In December, lawmakers ratified an agreement between the defense ministries of Bulgaria and Ukraine on the provision of military assistance to Kyiv.

“It is true that Bulgaria is preparing a new tranche of military assistance to Ukraine… It will meet their needs and our capabilities, as decided by the People’s Assembly,” the minister said.

According to the minister, this tranche will be comparable to the first package in terms of volume and types of weapons. “We are withdrawing from warehouses what is in good condition, still has a working resource, but older than 30-40 years,” the minister explained. According to him, in the near future this package will be proposed for approval by the Council of Ministers.

Although the composition of the first package of military assistance to Ukraine was classified, in early December the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) reported that it was about small arms and ammunition.
