Russia is Turkey’s foremost ally, NATO’s expansion to the east means an increased threat to Turkey, the candidate for the presidency of Turkey, the leader of the Rodina party, Dogu Perincek said.

Perincek had earlier submitted an application to the Supreme Electoral Council to run for the presidency of Turkey in the elections to be held on May 14. The politician needs to collect 100,000 signatures.

“The Russian Federation is now Turkey’s foremost ally. The fight against US imperialism and its pawns in Ukraine is also Turkey’s fight. Since NATO’s eastward expansion means an increased threat to Turkey, we will be with Russia on the Ukrainian front,” Perincek said.

According to the politician, if he comes to power, he will ensure solidarity with Russia in the Eastern Mediterranean.
