The Chinese military spoke about the course of the exercises near Taiwan

The People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) continued exercises off the coast of Taiwan on Sunday as planned, the PLA’s Eastern Combat Command Zone said.

“According to the set plan, the PLA Eastern Combat Command Zone continued joint practical military exercises in the sea and airspace around the island of Taiwan on August 7,” the Eastern Combat Command Zone’s official WeChat account said in a statement.

Large-scale exercises using missiles, aircraft and warships officially started on Thursday.

The maneuvers, in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei, began at 12:00 local time on August 4 in six areas around the island. Earlier it was reported that the exercises will end on Sunday at 12.00 local time.
